We all have a phone with us at all times nowadays. They’re also our portal to communicate with other people and to take pictures, store our files, and answer our questions – no matter how embarrassing they are. And that’s why when it comes to our phones, privacy is a big concern.

Here’s where I want to highlight something that we should pay attention to. Samsung phones – including the Galaxy A series phones – have something called Samsung Knox. Samsung Knox debuted back in 2013 already. After 11 years since its debut, it has grown a lot.

Samsung Knox is something that never really got the limelight and that is because it works in the background as it is a separate processor that works independently from the main operating system. When we start up our Samsung phones, Knox just works in the background to protect our data.

The Samsung Knox will protect our PINs, passwords, and registered fingerprints while also protecting data within our Samsung Wallet data.

There are even more features that are using Samsung Knox now too. One feature called the Secure Folder has been around for a few years and I have personally used it to store some of my own darkest secrets inside.

It’s a very simple feature to use – just enable it in the settings menu and we will get a Secure Folder icon in our app list. Tapping into the Secure Folder leads us into a sandbox sub-system. It’s basically the usual Android system that we have but we can login a completely different Google account and install different apps in that sandbox sub-system.

All of our files will be separated between the sub-system and the main system. We can still transfer files between the two systems, but it needs to be done deliberately – which I like. Even accessing the Secure Folder will need to scan our fingerprint.

And since there are lots of “creative” ways of scammers trying to do their jobs, we need to protect ourselves as well. Samsung has a built-in malware scanner that is made in collaboration with McAfee, but what I want to highlight here is the Auto Blocker feature.

Essentially, it blocks all potential to sideload apps. If any scammer sends us an APK, we will never be able to install it thanks to the Auto Blocker feature. Honestly speaking, I’ll enable this feature on almost everyone’s phone. It just gives me peace of mind.

But then again – Samsung Knox is something that works in the background and we don’t directly interact with it. It’s an unsung hero in our phones that now, offers a lot more features than what we usually think of when we think about “privacy”.

Now, if you want to experience Samsung Knox for yourself – it is available in the new Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A55 which we have reviewed. The reviews are here – check them out.

P/S: Exynos 1480 is actually competitive.
