Samsung has officially introduced the One UI 4 Beta Program based on the Android 12 OS with the inclusion of many new and improvised aspects and optimizations.
Launched exclusively for the Galaxy S21 series first including the S21 5G, S21+ 5G, and S21 Ultra 5G, the new One UI 4 will reportedly be more intuitive in bringing users a unique experience by customizing the needs and preferences based on an individual basis and thanks to Google’s effort in putting privacy and data control more serious in Android 12, Samsung is taking the steps further by making sure these functions and features can be easily accessed with ample transparency.
To begin, the overall UI graphics will be more simplified and streamlined to be more in line with Google’s Material You design language in addition to a ton of theme options to adjust the feel, look and functionality such as home screen, icons, wallpapers, notifications and more with more in-house made widgets to give an even better experience than the current styling. For the fun side of things, emojis including flat-faced 2D ones to 3D-based AR avatars will be all hosted within a single place so you can always find what you need directly while enjoying a richer communication experience.
Other than the visual updates, the new One UI 4 also adheres to Google’s focus on the transparency of privacy and access control by letting users fully understand exactly when, why, and how their data is being used through a series of indicators alert which app is having permissions to access features like microphone and cameras which users can immediately revoke if found to be mischievous. A log-like function is also being added to record a list of permission changes from the last 7 days instead of the current 24 hours for a better management and control experience.
Cool, Can I join the Beta too?
As it is still within the Beta phase, Samsung wants participants to report bugs and submit feedback in order to make the One UI 4 more mature and ready for the global market. To join, you’ll need to register through the Samsung Members app with an eligible device within a selected few markets where the Beta program is available.
