Samsung Malaysia had an interesting experiment to promote their Galaxy Tab S – using vision as a complimentary “enhancement” to taste and smell.
The experiment is simple, but it raised my eyebrows out of interest.
First, they gathered a few samples of commonly found things with strong flavour or scent – flowers, desserts, anything. Then, they take high definition pictures of them.
Then, they gather a few people as their test subjects. Show them the high-def pictures on a conventional LCD screen for tablets. While looking, ask the test subjects to rate those samples by eating, smelling, and touching.
After that, show them the exact same high-def pictures on a Galaxy Tab S, redo the entire experiment again.
It’s interesting to see that Samsung had did such an unconventional experiment. It’s hard to judge this scientifically since their methods are quite simplistic.
Maybe this is a proof of concept for scientists to latch on and experiment with.

That’s an impressive idea embraced in the video. But I agree that It’s hard to judge this scientifically, probably just a marketing trick 🙂
I would think that it is a marketing gimmick too, but have to really see how scientists debunk this
