This is the 75-inch QN85C Quantum Mini LED TV and Q800C 5.1.2 channel Dolby Atmos capable soundbar. Today is slightly special as we’re not unboxing this product in our studio. That’s because the new TV and soundbar should be placed in the right environment, replacing my ageing 50-inch Samsung TU8000 TV.
One of the primary reasons I’m upgrading my TV is the size as the living room is now bigger, we need a larger and better TV for a better viewing experience. The same concept applies to the soundbar. It needs to be able to fill up the bigger living room space.
Let me walk you through the installation process we followed. We chose to install everything ourselves. Here’s how it went:
To begin, we removed the Samsung TU8000 and gave the console a thorough cleaning, as it was covered in cat hair. The joys of being a cat servant!
After that, we disconnected the existing cables to prepare for the new ones.
Although there is a user manual for disassembling the box and mounting the stand, it’s worth mentioning that 99% of customers won’t face any issues with this procedure. When you purchase the TV, the shop will likely include an installation service.
Additionally, I want to highlight the eco-friendliness of the packaging. Samsung has made a commitment to the environment by promoting the efficient use of resources. The packaging is made of eco-friendly corrugated cardboard, and buyers can repurpose it into magazine racks, cat houses, or even mini-shelves. Moreover, the packaging uses 90% less ink than before, reducing text and graphics. You can find more information about Samsung’s eco-packaging here.
Not only is the packaging eco-friendly, but the remote control also aligns with Samsung’s environmentally friendly initiative. Instead of conventional AA or AAA batteries, the remote control is powered by a solar cell. This eliminates the need for disposable batteries or constantly recharging them.
Moving on to the Q800C soundbar, unboxing it is a straightforward process. The long side should face upwards, allowing the soundbar to come out first, followed by lifting the subwoofer with the strap.
Next, we need to route all the cables. The TV comes with a single power cable, while the soundbar has two power cables—one for the subwoofer and another for the soundbar itself.
To connect the TV to the soundbar, we use an HDMI cable with an eARC connection. This allows a single cable setup for the audio while the soundbar and subwoofer communicate wirelessly.
The TV has tracks at the back for cable routing, and the stand has a cover that we can use to route the cables underneath.
Once the HDMI cable is connected, the TV should immediately recognize the soundbar and activate the Q Symphony feature. In case you’re not familiar, Q Symphony is a unique Samsung feature that combines the TV speakers and the soundbar to create a complete theatre-like experience.
The Q800C soundbar features a 5.1.2 channel sound system, replicating the surround sound found in movie theatres.
With Dolby Atmos support, selected TV shows and movies provide an immersive 3D sound experience. Keep an eye out for the Dolby Atmos logo when browsing Netflix.
Now, let’s talk about the QN85C TV itself. It boasts an impressive 4K Quantum Mini LED display. The quantum matrix technology allows for precise dimming, improved power distribution, and enhanced black details. Additionally, the Neo Quantum Processor utilizes up to 20 neural networks for 4K AI upscaling and auto HDR remastering. What does all this mean? It translates to brighter colour density, deeper blacks, and remarkable content reproduction.
Right now Samsung Malaysia is having a Neo QLED TV upgrade campaign whereby you can pay less to get an upgraded model with savings of up to RM4500. Click here to learn more.
