Qualcomm, the creators of the Snapdragon processors, released an app that claims to “boost your smartphone’s battery life”. I have already installed this for about 3~4 days and a review is not out yet since it has to “study” how you use your device first.
Let’s take a look at the app menus and its features for a moment.
After the splash screen, it then shows a list of apps that requires syncing, and provides you several simple options, such as making Blogger only sync when it wants or only when it wants, but by default it follows the app’s nature.
The apps that it is able to control are not locked to Google apps alone, but any apps which requests syncing, this app is able to control.
Over time it will learn how I use my phone, being that my WiFi status and also my location. Like what I used to do with Locale, it changes the device’s WiFi status in the locations that it has learned.
This automated feature definitely saves a lot of battery since it prevents exactly what the greatest battery parasite will do – aimlessly search for WiFi while you don’t even want to go online.
There also is a full list of configurations that you can tweak yourself, such as to enable or disable the WiFi and syncing management, or just disable it altogether.
Now that I have installed this app for a few days, it has learned how I use my device, the notification now tells me to “enjoy the extra battery life”.
Keep in mind that this app is still under beta, so don’t expect it to work without glitches, bugs or hiccups. A review will be out in a day or two.
