Sonos just brought its latest hardware lineup to Malaysia, launching the Beam Ultra soundbar and Ace Ultra headphones alongside Sonos 27, a fresh update to its audio operating system. All three land locally through TC Acoustic starting September 29, 2026.
The Beam Ultra keeps Beam’s familiar compact shape but steps things up meaningfully on the audio side, now delivering true 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos through nine custom drivers, including two dedicated up-firing drivers for genuine overhead sound. A redesigned center channel focuses on clearer dialogue, while the driver setup overall delivers warmer bass than before.
If you want to expand things further, you can pair it with a Sub or compatible Sonos portable speakers acting as surrounds, and those portable speakers can be moved around the house whenever you don’t need them locked into a home theater setup. Four levels of AI Speech Enhancement give you finer control over dialogue clarity, and a Night Sound mode helps keep things quiet-friendly for late-night viewing.
On the personal listening side, the Sonos Ace Ultra steps in as the brand’s newest premium over-ear headphone, built around a Sonos-designed 40mm driver and Adaptive ANC powered by ten microphones, with up to 35 hours of battery life when ANC is switched on. Built on what Sonos calls Headphone Engine 2, the Ace Ultra also supports direct linking with your Sonos system, letting you move whatever’s playing on your speakers straight to your headphones (or send it back) with a single press, no phone required to be nearby.
The software side is arguably the more interesting update, though. Sonos 27 introduces new AI capabilities through something called Sonos 27mcp, which connects your Sonos system directly to AI platforms like ChatGPT.
That means you can ask ChatGPT in plain language to play music in a specific room, adjust the volume, or move audio between speakers, all without leaving the conversation you’re already in. It’s built on the Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets AI apps talk to external services.
Sonos also previewed something called Sonos Custom Agents, expected to roll out in 2027, which would let users build their own AI agents within the Sonos system, each with its own model, personality, and voice.
