Starting today, Spotify is rolling out Lyrics to all Free and Premium users within 26 countries – and luckily, Malaysia is one of them. Finally, the days of misheard lyrics and Googling them will be in the past.
It is part of a global partnership with Musixmatch, who owns the world’s largest catalog of song lyrics and translations legally with proper licensing. By tapping the Lyrics tab at the bottom of the Now Playing screen in the Spotify app, you’ll find the entire page of lyrics display right in front of your eyes.
Try out the feature now with Spotify and belt out your favorite songs at home with these surefire hits featured on Sing Along K-Pop, Girl Power Karaoke and Karaoke Duets. For those looking for a more local flavor, check out Jom Karaoke! and sing-along to popular song choices on Karaoke-themed playlists created by Malaysian users which include these songs:
- “I Want It That Way” by Backstreet Boys
- “Belaian Jiwa” by Innuendo
- “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz
- “Kenangan Terindah” by SAMSONS
- “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing – From “Armageddon” Soundtrack” by Aerosmith
Since this is a long-requested feature for an app like Spotify to evolve from being the music app on-the-go to today’s go-to software for occasions such as karaoke and dance parties, it will definitely be easier to discover new songs and learn the lyrics within a single app which is quite nice honestly.
Some music even has snippets of the music video or story behind the song displayed on Spotify itself. Since there are lyrics now, it’s just to further elevate the experience that Spotify can provide.
