When we were young, I bet most of us used to build a house, a ship or something random out of LEGO blocks. But now, Jason Alleman had brought us a new way to play with the LEGO by convincing you with an amazing steampunk walking ship that he built – Amagosa.
Amagosa was modeled based on Strandbeest, a gigantic wind-powered walking kinetic sculpture created by Theo Jansen. It moves fast and creepy like a spider which it also reminds me of the giant mechanical spider in the Wild Wild West movie.
By using the LEGO power function system which included an IR receiver, battery box and two M-size motors, he constructed a walking frame for his trading ship, which fully supports the structure of the ship and walks using a LEGO remote control. There are four legs for each side of the ship, each of which is independently powered by a LEGO motor, allowing the ship to turn and to walk forward or in reverse.
Here are the video of the Amagosa in action:
If you are so interested in building a same walking frame, here are the instruction on his website: truedimensions. If you have build a same walking frame or other mechanical LEGO structure, please do share it with us!!!
