Stellar has built a solid reputation with its data recovery solutions, but its latest addition which is in the lines of Android Data Recovery Software, targets users specifically looking to recover lost or deleted files from Android devices. Whether you need to retrieve personal photos, important documents, or other crucial data, Stellar’s new solution is designed to give Android users peace of mind.
So for today, we are looking at the Stellar Data Recovery for Android app, designed to grab your once-deleted files in your Android smartphone or tablet and bring them back to existence.
Yes, just to be clear, this is not an Android app – It is a Windows application for your desktop or laptop that requires you to plug your device in order to function properly.
Setting Up
Getting the program as well as installing is very straightforward and with no fluffs or any annoying ads and unnecessary promotion which I definitely loved. So just run through the installation process and you’re good to go.
The Program
When you boot up the program, you’re straight to the Home Page where you can choose from the selection of recovering local Android data or WhatsApp/WhatsApp Business logs but for now, we are going to try out the former.
And you get to filter out the categories based on what you want to find. Early spoiler – It is better to just select one category at a time and I’ll show you the reason why further down the review.
After clicking Next, you’ll be prompted to “Enable USB Debugging” on your device. If you don’t know what this is, this is essentially a developer option-only feature that has no business interacting with a casual user’s experience hence it is hidden from plain sight.
While different smartphone brands have their way of revealing the Developer Options tab, most of them adhere to the “Click on Build Number/Version No” X number of times principal.
So my phone here is the OnePlus 10T 5G and the way to enable is through About Device > Version > Version No. Tap it several times until it says Developer Options Enabled (Or in this case, mine’s already enabled).
Next, head to Additional Settings > Developer Options > USB Debugging.
Now, either head back to the home page or restart the application while replugging the device. Once successful, your device will show up. Then hit the Scan button to proceed.
Before it starts scanning though, you need to push a couple of buttons on your phone which allows the software to gain access to the relevant permissions for scanning SMS, contacts, and the general file system. Just click Allow for all pop-ups.
After that just wait for the scan to finish.
Now here’s the catch I mentioned just now – the scanning speed varies by case and you need to wait for quite some time before it finishes therefore by scanning only one category at a time, you can have more flexibility on your time.
For the 7k+ photos it managed to nab, it took me about 15 minutes so yeah, if you’ve been using your phone for a couple of years, it will take its “sweet time” to run to the finish line so start the scan and be on your way onto other tasks first.
There you have it. All the results are here. I also liked that they marked each photo clearly with the “Trash Bin” icon as the one being deleted files.
But also, if you would like to back up existing photos, feel free to just toggle it through the top right side and see what’s inside. You probably forgot about some other things you’ve saved from Facebook or Instagram.
After that, you can hit the Save button, and then choose the destination for all the things you want to rescue.
Afterward, double-check all the files recovered by the software to make sure your photos, videos, music, and whatnot are still openable by the respective programs.
Conclusion
In short, the Stellar Data Recovery for Android works just as advertised. Although it may be a little bit “technically harsher” than the average Android Data Recovery Software due to the security constraints of the Android OS, props to Stellar for providing clear guides on how to navigate through the ‘Enable USB Debugging’ process.
Perhaps you’ve realized that I have skipped through activating the software because as expected, the freeware only allows you to preview the files after being scanned but not backing them up so yeah, you’ll need to pay for it.
At US29.99 which is their introductory price for new customers, if you really need a one-click solution that can save some of your most important things like personal photos and memories or key documents for your work and businesses, the deal is not bad honestly.
Don’t forget you can also help your own social circle when they have encountered the same problem. At the very least, you’ll get to know whether the program works for your specific situation through the preview function so no scummy practices like “finding out the app doesn’t work after paying”.

Great Review! Everything explained in detail. Stellar Data Recovery for Android looks useful to me. Researched about it on Google and a few other forums. Reviews were decent. I need to try this software as few of my old chats were cuz I didn’t had a backup (I guess). Let’s see if this software works out or not.
