Sunway Pyramid has launched the 1st commercial and practical smart toilet in Malaysia.

Sunway Pyramid IoT 3

Developed in partnership with Singapore’s amenities experts Rigel Technology, this all-new smart toilet system is capable of bringing more performance and efficiency in terms of management and expenses by utilizing collected data to determine when and where things like cleaning and maintenance need to be done. Dubbed the “Internet of Toilet” system which is the wordplay on the Internet of Things, this is just another great effort by Sunway to transform malls through digitalization and bring a more seamless experience towards visitors and managers alike.

To be more specific, these new toilets are armed with specialized sensors and monitors to detect the usage of things like soaps, paper holders, paper towel dispensers, and waste receptacles or identify the current state of various equipment including the urinals, push valves, water taps and more in conjunction with environmental monitoring to check on things like air quality, temperature, humidity, people counter. It also has ammonia sensors to let the cleaners know when things are smelling real bad. And all of these are transmitted towards a cloud server that is accessible by both web and mobile apps to get the management job and tracking done in just a matter of seconds. Additionally, Sunway’s management team can also monitor washroom performance, water consumption, and other valuable data through a dashboard.

That’s pretty cool from a business standpoint but I hope I don’t give out any info about what I ate yesterday by visiting one of the stalls next time.
