Global IT services consultancy TCS has launched its popular Sustainathon competition in Malaysia for the year 2021.

Hosted with a theme of ‘Reimagining Education’, TCS invites tertiary students enrolled within institutions of Malaysia to present and potentially realize solutions that can be used to tackle the issues of digital learning in terms of inclusivity and limitation through technology and innovation. By reducing the entry barrier of digital learning through refreshing and innovative ideas, the entire academy sector around the world including some of the less developed countries could adopt these solutions for online studies too.

The competition is divided into the following 4 challenge areas in which participants can choose and subsequently come out with their own ideas:

  1. Digital Divide and Connection – Enhance community engagement and provide access to education with high quality while employing technology to help B40 and the disabled to get the same level of academic support
  2. Absenteeism in Remote learning – Drive behavioral changes in students to make them more motivated in actively present for online learning
  3. Integrated Digital Learning Platform – One-stop digital solution that hosts, monitors, and manages online learning material while facilitating communication among parents, teachers, and educational institutions
  4. Accessible Education for the Blind – Enable inclusive education for visually-impaired students and revitalize traditional teaching practices

6 shortlisted teams or individuals with the best ideas will be selected to present to a panel of judges in the month of December with the top 3 winners entering the final round to be held in January 2022 while the grand champion and runner-up will proceed towards the ASEAN Finals in March 2022 to pit against other competitors from Philippines and Singapore. Aside from winning cash prizes of various amounts in the 4 to 5 figures range, real-world implementation can be realized if the judges, formed by experts of the industry, deemed solutions are applicable and feasible for deployment.
