USB-C has been around the market for quite some years already. While the world is still in the transitional phase (trust me, it’s difficult to get everyone on on board), Transcend is now using USB-C across their category of products. They are ready for the future.
Now, they have lots of USB-C products which ranges from SSDs, external hard disks, card readers, and flash drives. They do have enclosures that convert M.2 SSDs into USB-C connectors as well. From the fastest storage technology to a few terabytes on the palm of your hands, Transcend has it all in USB-C connector,
USB-C in a nutshell is superior to its previous generations by a few milestones, albeit confusing. Thunderbolt 3 is using the same connector type as well – which means it has 40Gb/s theoretical maximum bandwidth. It can carry video output and also up to 100W of power.
Since USB-C is getting more and more ubiquitous by the day, we expect that all devices will eventually be using the almighty USB-C. One connector to rule them all.
Transcend now has a range of portable SSDs in the market. These offer the fastest speeds with USB 3.1 Gen 2 compatibility and also has UASP (USB attached SCSI protocol) which allows bidirectional transfers of up to 520MB/s. These portable SSDs – which are powered by USB-C connector – are the Transcend ESD230C, ESD240C, and ESD250C.
There are also other tougher-grade external storage devices as well like the StoreJet 25MC which meets the U.S. military drop-test standards. Equipped with the USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface, you can get faster transfer speeds out of the storage device.
Then comes the USB-C memory card readers. I admit, for someone like me who works in DSLR cameras constantly, having a laptop with USB-C ports only does not help. Instead of carrying dongles around, Transcend’s RDC8 card reader is equipped with USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C interface for fast and convenient transfers. There are also card reader for Android phones as well – like the RDC2 that supports OTG.
