U Mobile has been the one telco brand with the lowest price in the market for years now. And they’re not stopping from there. Introducing the new Giler Unlimited for both prepaid and postpaid users. The prepaid Giler Unlimited plan is at RM30, whereas the Giler Unlimited for postpaid is at RM50. However, is it all sunshine and rainbows?

We said the “price is at” instead of “starting from” because U Mobile only has one single price for the Giler Unlimited plan – which wowed me personally.

Giler Unlimited is extremely affordable and it does not have any restrictions on when and how the data may be enjoyed. Hence, customers are able to stream music and videos, social message and network, play mobile games and livestream anytime, any day, completely worry-free.

U Mobile has always been about creating unlimited ideas for customers to maximize their digital lifestyle experience. We believe Giler Unlimited sets a whole new benchmark for the industry as one can enjoy unlimited data for all apps on your smartphone, any time, any day from as low as RM30. Once again, no restrictions, just pure worry-free unlimited experience. Giler Unlimited is truly the best offering in the market.

The postpaid GX50 plan, apart from having unlimited data for all apps, also comes with unlimited calls and 5GB of FREE hotspot quota. As for the prepaid GX30 plan, customers get to enjoy unlimited data and 3GB of FREE hotspot quota at only RM30. It is equivalent to RM1 per day, offering customers the best value.

The Giler Unlimited plans are available from today at all U Mobile stores nationwide. For more information on Giler Unlimited plans, please visit https://www.u.com.my/

While we think that U Mobile’s plan is indeed a fantastic step forward – free data with no strings attached – it just seems too good to be true. But h ey, it is true. There is one big difference between the GX30 and GX50 – and that’s free calls. With GX50, you get free calls to all networks with an extra 2GB of data for hotspot.

This is not the full story…

But there’s more. Before you switch – here are some highlights in the T&C for both GX50 and GX30. They are directly copied and pasted from U Mobile’s website.

GX50

  • For non-mobile hotspot usage, you can use GX50 via smartphones only and no other devices including MiFi and USB dongle. U Mobile may from time to time change the device requirement for GX50 based on its discretion.
  • Internet speed is up to 5Mbps. GX50 includes unlimited video and music streaming with standard definition streaming.
  • You are given separate data quota for mobile hotspot usage which is drawn from your Mobile Hotspot bucket. After the data quota from your Mobile Hotspot bucket is fully utilised, data speed will be managed.
  • Peer-to-peer (P2P) usage is up to 64kbps.
  • When there is a network failure, your normal (non-hotspot) data usage may inadvertently be deducted from your mobile hotspot quota. You acknowledge the possibility of this happening and agree not to hold us liable.

GX30

  1. By subscribing to the GX30 Plan, you will enjoy unlimited data usage with Internet speed up to 3Mbps. GX30 Plan includes unlimited video and music streaming at standard definition.
  2. You are given a separate 3GB of data quota for mobile hotspot usage. After the quota is fully utilized, data speed will be managed.
  3. Peer-to-peer (P2P) usage is up to 64kbps.
  4. For non-mobile hotspot usage, you can use GX30 Plan via smartphones only and no other devices including MiFi and USB dongle. U Mobile may from time to time change the device requirement for GX30 Plan based on its discretion.
  5. When there is a network failure, your normal (non-hotspot) data usage may inadvertently be deducted from your mobile hotspot quota. You acknowledge the possibility of this happening and agree not to hold us liable.

That’s not all. Considering the coverage of U Mobile is pretty much spotty to put it nicely, the speed will vary depending on location and your smartphone’s baseband strength as well.

Is it worth to migrate to GX50 or GX30? It’s your call.
