The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is the first – and currently the only Galaxy S series smartphone – that support the S Pen. But, the S Pen is not included with the Galaxy S21 Ultra and you’ll need to buy it separately. For us here in Malaysia, you’ll need to buy the S Pen and the case to house the S Pen as a bundle.
This bundle is called the Silicone Cover with S Pen for the Galaxy S21 Ultra and it is officially priced at RM289. So, here’s my unboxing and review of this case.
I suggest you watch the video here because we talk about a lot more stuff and show some quirks with this accessory bundle.
Now, the Silicone Cover with S Pen for the Galaxy S21 Ultra comes in two different flavors. The one we have here is in the standard TPU case, but it is also available in a flip cover version. Personally, I prefer the standard TPU case and it seems like many of you think the same as well since it is going out of stock everywhere, whereby the flip case version is still available.
The S Pen also comes with a total of 2 additional tips. One of them is a direct replacement of the tip that is pre-installed on the S Pen, and another one is a white-colored tip. The white tip is a lot smoother than the pre-installed tip. You can swap between tips since Samsung also included the necessary tools to do that swap.
The S Pen is thicker than the usual Galaxy Note series of S Pens, and also a lot nicer to hold. It functions the same as usual and fits inside this TPU case nicely on the left side.
Now, there are ways to put the S Pen inside since the S Pen is not square while looking at the cross-sectional area. Putting it in the “wrong” way will make the S Pen protrude a little and also more difficult to take out later, whereby putting it in the “correct” way makes the S Pen sit slightly recessed into the case and easier to take out.
Overall, the Silicone Cover with S Pen for the Galaxy S21 Ultra is a nice case – but the price though. At RM289, it’s surely expensive – but the S Pen is a great tool.
Though, I’d still like to see some other 3rd party case manufacturers make an alternative case for this. If you’re a 3rd party case manufacturer who has a case for the S Pen and the Galaxy S21 Ultra, drop us a message on our Facebook Page. We’re interested in exploring other cases too.
