Just very recently Valve has announced that they will be releasing their own console line that people say could change the console industry. Their consoles will be way powerful than the current gen (Xbox One and PS4). However, there is a catch. Their consoles are actually PC builds in a customized case designed to be tight and small like a console but running Steam OS. Alongside the console, they have developed their very own unique controller which is the most innovative and ambitious controller design we’ve seen since Wii.
Stepping up further, they are now developing virtual reality systems which was announced to be introduced next year at the Steam Dev Days conference on January 15 and 16. They will unveil the prototype hardware and get into details on how the hardware and system works. They will also be discussing the potential of VR in gaming which was estimated to be in the commercial market within the next two years.
As game gets better and better in terms of graphics, we all will hit a point we wished that we can literally jump into the game – especially with 4K resolution has already hit the commercial market. Even the Oculus Rift is one of the very first VR headset to hit the market but sales are very limited to developers and not everyone can get access to especially when not all games are compatible with the VR headset. Hopefully with Valve’s involvement into this virtual reality gaming, VR can finally take off and hit the mainstream market and gamers.
