Visa has recently launched a new campaign for Malaysia called the ‘Tiap Kali Tap’ to engage more people to move from physical cards to tapping with their phones.
The incentives given out are limited-time promos across more than 1,000 merchants nationwide, such as RM3 off minimum RM50 spend at selected outlets, rewards campaigns with Watsons, and AEON vouchers for qualifying purchases.
Then starting May, they’re tying things into the FIFA World Cup 2026 hype with a Spend & Win campaign. The more you tap using Visa on mobile – no minimum spend required – the higher your chances of landing signed World Cup jerseys, with winners picked from the top users based on transaction count.
All you need to do is just add your Visa card to a mobile wallet, tap your phone at checkout, and you’re done. Whether it’s groceries, dining, fuel, or just getting around town, as long as the transaction goes through, you’re good.
With mobile contactless payment, your details are never revealed in plain form. Instead, the system runs on tokenisation, which basically means every time you tap to pay, it generates a unique one-time digital token instead of using your actual 16-digit card number. So your real card details never get exposed during the transaction, and that adds a layer of protection on top of the usual device security like biometrics.
