Two months ago, Western Digital launched a 5mm thick 500GB HDD with a 2.5-inch spinning disk platter and now Western Digital just announced the world’s thinnest 1TB hard drive,  the 7mm WD Blue.

Here are some of the features of the WD Blue 7 mm hard drives:

• Shock Tolerance: WD’s ShockGuard™ technology protects the drive mechanics and platter surfaces from shocks.
• WD’s exclusive WhisperDrive™: technology that enables quiet performance.
•  StableTrac™: secures the motor shaft at both ends to reduce vibration and improve tracking.
• Dual Stage Actuators: electromagnetic for coarse displacement and piezo for fine movement.
• WD’s SecurePark™: keeps the heads clear of the disk surface and increases shock resistance.

7mm WD Blue cost $139(approximately RM 428) with two years limited warranty. In the future,I believe that the hard drive will as thin as a paper.
