I get why people like to watch things like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley on streaming platforms – relaxing, a throwback to the old days, wholesome vibes of the game’s setting, etc.

But there isn’t something that is quite like “neipuduck” that rose to a small fame recently due to its content being, well, ducks. But the real kind.

Amassing more than 5000 followers in a single week with concurrent viewers maintaining at about 1000, the idea of bringing real-life farming directly to screens around the world might have existed and been played around by various streamers but in the case of ‘neipuduck’, it might be Taiwan’s “earliest” to bring the sensation of farming ducks to the locals.

Aside from observing fellow ducks and ducklings quacking around while the chat spams the same emote and eggs, you may also find interesting footage when it is mealtime or during the evening period when more flocks are running around and sometimes hanging around the camera for some fun.

According to the description, the broadcaster explained the origins of the channel name ‘內埔薑母鴨’ or “Ginger Female Duck from Neipu”. Starting as a channel dedicated to farming Muscovy Ducks (This breed is traditionally used in cooking ginger duck, hence the correlation in naming), after some time the owner just decided to add a bunch of brown domestic ducks.

But since it is a hassle to have your username changed on Twitch, the name just stuck around.

Thanks to further explanation from the owner, we also learned that Muscovy Ducks are bred mainly for selling and cooking (into ginger ducks of course) while the domestic species are for egg farming.

As an added bonus, those who reside in Taiwan can also utilize channel points awarded to viewers for watching the stream for X amount of time, to get actual duck eggs from the farm.

Why watch farming sims like Stardew Valley when you can observe real ducks on Twitch 1

Yes, the real “TRADE OFFER” meme is happening and for 238k points, you can get 6 of them or 10 of them for 357k points – Quite the “asking price” but considering you get these points for free (feel free to open the stream and AFK it to the background) and at a higher rate if you go for a paid subscription to support the channel, I say that getting fresh duck eggs that are not from a megacorp delivered to your house is a win.
