Yes Malaysia has officially started its 5G commercial service in Ipoh as part of its latest expansion in connecting the country with the latest widely available cellular technology.
Done at the Ipoh City Council premise, several tests have been conducted and places like Ipoh Railway Station can reach speeds of up to 715Mbps which is really fast and nearly 100Mbps higher than the nationwide average.
Those living within the areas of Medan Ipoh, Ipoh Town, Station 18, Bercham, Tambun, Gunung Rapat, and Bandar Sri Botani will see their devices connecting to the 5G network when using Yes’s Infinite series or Prepaid FT5G Unlimited plans. As time goes on, the telco will slowly expand and cover more areas of a given state.
Aside from the usual smartphone-based packages, the new Infinite Gateway which is Malaysia’s first 5G wireless home fiber service can be applied by the public as well it offers high-speed connectivity and at just RM148 per month, users will gain access to the 120Mbps 5G + 4G plan with a free 5G router thrown in for free.
