11street.my is an online shopping platform South Korea, and entered Malaysia a few months ago. 11street is now one of the largest e-commerce site right here in Malaysia – and they’re not stopping here of course.

Throughout the months of operation here in Malaysia, 11street managed to gather some shocking information about our online shopping behavior. It’s a surprise that 11street is sharing these information with us, as these information highlights 3 main points :

  1. Malaysian online shopping behaviors are becoming more diverse
  2. Men to women shopper ratio are 48 men to 52 women
  3. Nearly half of the customers shopped via mobile

In a brief elaboration between all of these 3 points, Malaysians are now not only using online shopping sites to buy fashion or electronics, but even products from the categories of health and beauty, kids and baby,, home and living, grocery, services, e-vouchers, and many more. Informatively, the most popular searches during the Ramadhan month were baby car seats, Tupperware, Bluetooth earphones, and skincare products.

Online shopping now has a healthy ratio of 48 men to 52 women too – and amazingly the prejudice of “electronics are for male only” is totally destroyed by the statistics from 11street. It has been shown that the majority of women shoppers actually purchased mobile and tablets too, other than the usual beauty, health, baby, and kids items.

Lastly but certainly the most important information, nearly half of the customers shopped via mobile, and that’s big news because it really tells the importance of having the perfect mobile app for both Android and iOS devices.
