Here’s the Nova 2 Plus. The name of it is actually stylized officially as “HUAWEI nova 2 Plus”, but we’re going to stylize it as Huawei Nova 2 Plus instead.
So, one might wonder – what’s so special about the Huawei Nova 2 Plus? Well, let’s take a look at the spec list first.
- 5.5-inch LPTS 1080p display
- Kirin 659 chipset with octa-core processor
- 4GB RAM
- 128GB internal storage (wow!)
- Rear camera
- 12MP + 8MP dual-camera system (learn more about it here)
- Selfie camera
- 20MP
- 3,340mAh battery
- Supports aptX (learn more about it here)
Now, Huawei also touts that the Nova 2 Plus is made to have “theater-quality” HiFi music. Huawei backs this up by including the AK4376A Hi-Fi chip and HUAWEI Histen Audio Algorithm in the Nova 2 Plus, too.
Other than that, Huawei does boast its selfie camera on the Huawei Nova 2 Plus a lot. With a 20MP selfie camera that has 3D facial recognition and skin enhancement features, Huawei claims the camera ought to take great selfies.
The rear-camera takes on a hybrid dual-camera system, where both of the cameras use different lenses. The 12MP camera uses a wide angle lens, whereas the 8MP uses what sounds like a telephoto lens. This is actually different from what Huawei has implemented on their Leica-branded camera system on their flagship P-series. You can all about it here.
The HiFi audio can only be taken advantage if you already have the source file music at such high bitrate, and equipment to play them at high resolution. But then again, with that included 128GB of storage, Huawei expects you to load gigabytes of albums of songs into the phone and bring it out with you.
What else you need to invest is a good portable DAC and a magnificent pair of portable headphones. You know, those that are more portable-centric with foldable designs and a hard shell case like the Beyerdynamic CUSTOM STREET or the Beyerdynamic Byron BT that supports Qualcomm aptX.
For the price of RM1,999, I think that the Huawei Nova 2 Plus is somewhat justifiable. Order it now from Lazada and get another USB-C cable and a Bluetooth speaker for free!
