Did you know Huawei actually makes laptops as well? For those who tuned in to our coverage of MWC2018, then you know that Huawei announced the MateBook X Pro during the keynote – and it’s actually a beautiful laptop. 2 years ago, we did ask Huawei Malaysia why MateBoooks are not in Malaysia – but the answer given to us was rather vague. Now, they’re officially coming to Malaysia.

The MateBook X Pro is the first one to be using LTPS (low-temperature poly-silicon) displays on a laptop, and enables the laptop to achieve a 91% screen-to-body ratio with very thin bezels around the sides of the laptop. We sure hope Huawei made sure the laptop’s lid durable enough even with such thin bezels.

In terms of specs of the laptop, we’re not sure what Huawei as to offer to the Malaysian market. For what we know, the only thing that Huawei made official was the 13.9-inch, 3K touch-enabled display with a 3:2 aspect ratio. From Huawei’s product page, it has a 3000×2000 resolution.

It uses an 8th Generation Intel Core i7 or i5 processor, has a 57.4Wh battery and NVIDIA GeForce MX150 GPU with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM. We know that it also comes in 8GB and 16GB RAM variants with 256GB or 512GB NVMe SSD PCIe, but we’re not sure what variant is Huawei is bringing to the market.

From the looks of the images of the Huawei MateBook X Pro, we infer that there’s a high chance for the RAM and SSD to be soldered on the Huawei MateBook X Pro’s motherboard directly.

We do not have any price or availability date as of now. We’ll surely update this page when we have more information. Stay tuned to Nasi Lemak Tech and also our Facebook Page for more updates!
