Huawei Nova 2 Lite has been announced – and it is a smartphone made for “young and dynamic users”. Comes with some of the more updated trends like 18:9 FullView display and dual-cameras, the Huawei Nova 2 Lite is priced at only RM799. Very compelling for its price point.
The Nova 2 Lite features a 13MP + 2MP dual-camera setup for the rear, which functions the similarly as its high-end smartphones. The 2MP camera here is to gather depth data, hence the its dual-camera system is a stereoscopic one. Learn more about it here.
With the depth data, bokeh effect can be added to the images taken with up to 7 aperture level to select from. If you want to retune the bokeh effect, you can do it later after the image has been taken – similar to the P10 that we reviewed here.
Other than that, the Huawei Nova 2 Lite has an 8MP selfie camera with toning flash. This means that the Nova 2 Lite will detect the lighting on the subject’s face and adjusts the flash’s brightness accordingly. This is indeed helpful for darker areas or places with weird lighting. It’ll make sure your face is lit up with the correct exposure.
Sporting a 5.99-inch 720p FullView display, the Nova 2 Lite is indeed on track with the latest hardware trend. Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chipset with MSM8937 octa-core processor, 3GB RAM, and 32GB storage – it looks like a fairly entry-level smartphone. Everything on the Nova 2 Lite is powered by a 3,000mAh battery. Too bad the SoC here is made using 28nm process technology and not FinFET. Without FinFET, the 3,000mAh will be burned through really quickly. Learn more about FinFET here.
The Nova 2 Lite also comes with 3 dedicated slots – double Nano SIM cards and a microSD card at the same time. It also has a new WiFi bridge feature – which essentially converts the phone to become a WiFi repeater.
As for pricing and availability, the Huawei Nova 2 Lite will be available starting 23rd March 2018 with the price of RM799. It’ll be avialable in all Huawei Experience Stores, authorized resellers as well as Celcom and Maxis authorized stores. Huawei will also be giving away complementary Huawei travel bags, while stocks last.
