For those who play PUBG Mobile, this is a treat for us because the new update brings a brand new option in the settings menu to fix the issue whereby buttons are blocked by the notch. We actually experienced this issue a lot with smartphones that have a humongous notch that blocked buttons.

This new update will bring a refreshing way to fix the notch issue – and it is supported by the developers themselves. That means we as users do not need to fiddle around in the Android’s settings menu to disable the notch for certain apps.

The fix from the developers themselves is simple – there are a total of 3 options to select from. You have “normal”, “rounded corners”, or the one that we love the most, “notched”. These 3 options merely push or squeeze the UI tighter, creating an empty space between the buttons and the edge of the screen.

Let’s have a look at the comparison between the 3 different modes. And yes, every time the mode is changed, the game needs to be restarted.

At first glance, I thought that “rounded corners” and “notched” are different – but l realized that the “notched” mode actually had all the buttons squeezed inwards a tad bit tighter than “rounded corner” mode.

With this new setting, PUBG Mobile is technically compatible with all phones regardless if there are notches or not. With ridiculous phones that has two notches, the game will push the buttons on both sides inwards.

Phones like the Pocophone F1, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5z; and many more smartphones with a notch will not have to worry about the notch blocking certain buttons in PUBG Mobile any more.

Yes, the Huawei Mate 20 Pro has a humongous notch.

I play PUBG Mobile on a Samsung Galaxy S9 that has a curved and rounded corner display – which is actually still fine. It’s just the notched displays that need this fix the most.

By the way, the new map is already available for download. Still in beta, but you can play it right now!
