This is just fascinating – SamMobile just reported that for the Galaxy Note9, the Android 9.0 Pie with One UI update has already reached stable state and is currently being rolled out to Germany already!
Samsung has once again chosen Germany to be the starting point for the Galaxy Note9’s Android 9.0 Pie update that is bundled with Samsung’s brand new One UI. For the Galaxy S9’s Pie update, Samsung also chose Germany as the starting point.
SamMobile reports that the stable Pie update has the build number N960FXXU2CRLT and includes the January 2019 security patches. Of course, this update is not available for Malaysia just yet.
Speaking of regional availability, the Samsung published the schedule publicly and listed the Galaxy S9 to get the Android 9.0 Pie + One UI update in January 2019 – but it was first reported to be rolling out to devices somewhere in mid-December of 2018. The list of countries getting Android 9.0 Pie + One UI update grows by the day – but Malaysia is still not in the list yet.
Then comes to the Note9. Originally, it was listed that the Note9 will get the Android 9.0 Pie + One UI update in February 2019 – but Samsung jumped the gun a month earlier since Germany is already getting the update right now.
Samsung’s full plan might be to roll out slowly through its list of regions in sequence as to not overload the servers and to potentially fix any critical bugs that they’ve missed out before deploying to millions of users worldwide.
Samsung still has lots of time to fulfill the timeline of their publicly published update schedule. We still have 26 days left in January for the Galaxy S9’s update and 54 days for the Galaxy Note9’s update to be rolled out worldwide.
