Let me first tell you a bit of history. My first ever mechanical keyboard that I bought was the original Ducky One TKL nonbacklit version, which I eventually modded it to have orange LEDs. I love that keyboard so much so the point that I even got it signed by Team Secret. Things happened last year – and now, Ducky Malaysia is back again with a punch as they are bringing in existing Ducky keyboards into the Malaysian market, and announced some upcoming new products as well.
Let’s briefly go through the existing catalog of products that are available in the market first. They’re bringing in their keycap sets into the market which I truly appreciate. Ducky is the only one keyboard brand that includes doubleshot PBT keycaps instead of the conventional ABS ones.
The list of keyboards they have now in the market are:
- One 2 Mini Black
- One 2 Mini White
- One 2 Black
- One 2 TKL Black
- Shine 7 Blackout
- One 2 TKL Midnight
We were also shown some other upcoming keyboards too. One particularly interesting keyboard that I have my eyes on is the Ducky One 2 SF. This SF variant is slightly smaller than a standard TKL, but not quite mini yet. The arrow keys are still retained although the navigation cluster keys are moved into the function layer. If the keyboard can be fully customized, then this is truly a keyboard that I will swap over.
Another upcoming series of keyboards is the new Mecha series. Ducky said that any keyboards within the new Mecha series will have an aluminium chassis with zinc alloy keyboard stand. Wow.
And of course, the Year of the Pig edition mechanical keyboard. Every year, Ducky will produce a limited edition keyboard that is designed around the Chinese zodiac for that particular year. Since this is the pig year, Ducky collaborated with metalwork master Kulele Ruladen to design the beautiful artwork inspired by the history of the Paiwan people.
I am in awe as Ruladen managed to tell a story of how Paiwan people hunt boar in the wild through an artwork that looks like a cave painting. Its story is dense and packed with details and it is just a piece of art.
