It’s Merdeka and HONOR Malaysia is having a roadshow right now for the HONOR 20 Pro that was just announced not too long ago. You can also find out our review of that phone right here. Marking the company’s first-ever smartphone with 4 usable cameras with a macro camera within that list, that HONOR 20 Pro is indeed a special smartphone of this generation. But today, the interesting thing that was launched is the HONOR Band 5.
This HONOR Band 5 is actually very competitive as it offers a lot of features yet for the price of just RM149 – which is also the same as its competitor.
This new HONOR Band 5 has 0.95-inch AMOLED display with 240×120 pixels in resolution, covered by curved glass. It has a touch screen and a touch-sensitive button, together with 5ATM water resistance.
As for the battery, the HONOR Band 5 can last for 14 days on standby and about 6 days with intense usage – so at minimum, you’ll have to charge it every week.
By the way, the HONOR Band 5 does not have any physical, pressable buttons. If you ever need to restart the Band 5, you can shut it down through the watch’s settings menu, but powering up requires the charger.
The HONOR Band 5 sets itself apart by having a list of software features that is actually pretty good. Firstly, you can download a lot of watch faces on the smartphone app then the watch itself can also store a few of your favorite watch faces too – so you can swap them quickly and easily.
The other feature – which I think is pretty unique – is the ability to control your smartphone’s camera shutter button on the watch itself. This feature is great for those who always shoot pictures on a tripod or want to shoot a group selfie with the phone propped out somewhere. However, this feature is only available for smartphones that are running EMUI 8.1 or later.
