Introducing the brand new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4. This new generation of foldables – in this case the flip – might seem the same as the previous generation but it actually comes with a lot of upgrades under the hood – and for the better.

Very good news for everyone
I’m going to start off by sharing a piece of fantastic news with everyone who is interested to get the Galaxy Z Flip4 and the Galaxy Z Fold4. We recently had a roundtable with Samsung Malaysia and we all highlighted one particular issue – the warranty policy. So, when Samsung Malaysia took heed and improved upon it.
For all Galaxy Z Flip4 and the Galaxy Z Fold4 customers, we will all be getting:
- 2 years of warranty in total
- 3x screen protector exchange
The latter point is because a lot of people were complaining that the factory-applied screen protector started peeling off on its own and bubbling up – so Samsung Malaysia’s coverage of 3x screen protector exchange means that we can have a total of 4 screen protectors. The first one is from the factory and 3 more from the Samsung service centers.
Price
We still do not have the price as of now and we’ll update you guys when we do have the information – but I do want to highlight that Samsung does have a trade-up program where we can trade-in a total of 5 devices (smartphones, smartwatch, tablets) across multiple different brands and generations of products. Samsung Malaysia is also looking to introduce an “any condition” trade-in. Even if it’s cracked or unable to turn on, it should still be able to rake in the minimum amount when trading in.
You can get up to 55% of savings for the new Galaxy Z Flip4 and the Galaxy Z Fold4 too.
Galaxy Z Flip4
Onward to the device itself! The new Galaxy Z Flip4 is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and the device itself has a recurring theme of refinements and also thinner frames and bezels.
It comes in a total of 4 different colors in a very matte finish:
- Graphite
- Pink Gold
- Blue
- Bora Purple
For the Galaxy Z Flip4, we are also going to get the Bespoke Edition here in Malaysia – and we can create up to a total of 75 unique color combinations. We can choose between:
- 5 front colors
- 5 back colors
- 3 frame colors
The bezels seem to be smaller and thinner compared to the Z Flip3 and the trims around the hinge – as in the frame that wraps around the top/bottom part of the phone – are also smaller.
However, when you fold the device, you’ll still have the wedge shape and all sorts of gunk and dust and lint can get inside.
The Galaxy Z Flip4 also comes with a larger 3,700mAh battery compared to the 3,300mAh battery on the Z Flip3 but it is still smaller than what I hoped. It’s better than nothing, though.
The Galaxy Z Flip4 also supports a faster 25W charging compared to the 15W charging on the Z Flip3 – which is definitely a welcomed addition even though I’d still like a larger battery.
As for the cover display, it feels the same and it did get a lot of upgrades in terms of its software and functionality. We can now check notifications and reply to messages directly from the cover display – and we also have quick settings access so that we can toggle WiFi, turn on the torchlight, and all of those jazz without unflipping the device.
We can also add widgets to the cover screen – and this feature is going to be very powerful with Samsung SmartThings as we can initiate all the smart home stuff from the cover screen directly.
The cameras on the Galaxy Z Flip4 are also identical to the Galaxy Z Flip3, same goes to the IPX8-rating.
As for the official accessories, they seem to be in the same style as the Galaxy Z Flip3 as we have the ring keychain style case, and the silicone strap cover, but we also have a new slim cover and also a new leather strap cover.

We got the specs sheet rather late – but here you go. Most aspects the Galaxy Z Flip4 remain the same as the Galaxy Z Flip3.

Wrapping up
While I do agree that the Galaxy Z Flip3 seems like an incremental upgrade over the Galaxy Z Flip3, I think it is a major step-up. Particularly with the warranty policy, bigger battery capacity, and also the fast charging speed – those who are on the fence about getting the Galaxy Z Flip3 should now be feeling more confident in getting the Galaxy Z Flip4.
I should also mention that everything else about the Galaxy Z Flip4 also remains the same as the Galaxy Z Flip3 – even the screen sizes and refresh rate are identical. The display did get a slight upgrade as it can now vary its refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz.
Oh – there is a new variant with 8GB RAM + 512GB storage version. Perfect for those who are upgrading from a Samsung device with humongous storage capacity like the Galaxy S10 series.
