Introducing the new flagship tablets from Samsung – the Galaxy Tab S12 series. For this generation, we have both the Tab S12 Ultra as usual, and also the Tab S12+. Yes, there is no small Tab S12 this time around.
Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra
Starting with the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra, it comes with the same size as before – 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen panel with the same resolution and refresh rate as the Tab S11 Ultra, measures at 5.1mm thin and weighs at only 692 grams.
This Tab S12 Ultra comes with the same 11,600mAh battery as the previous generation as well, can fast-charge with up to 45W, and also rated for IP68 as well.
Surprisingly, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra got an upgrade in terms of the loudspeakers. We have total of 4 speakers, two on each side – and it also has 4 channel audio. Not sure how they work, but it’s definitely a good upgrade.
Galaxy Tab S12+
As for the Galaxy Tab S12+, I’m actually quite surprised that this tablet got a few meaning upgrades. It will also have the 4 speakers like the Ultra with 4 channels as well.
Plus, the battery did get upgraded to 10,600mAh for this generation, while the charging speed remains to be at 45W max and rated for IP68 too.
In terms of the size, the Tab S12+ is equipped with a 12.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, while the tablet measures 5.3 mm and weighs 553 grams.
Some upgrades
There are some changes between the previous generation and the new one. They’re all upgraded to the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, comes with 12GB RAM, and at least for us here in Malaysia – it’s only available in 256GB storage, but these tablets do have a microSD card reader.
By the way… look at this. Do you realise something? Yeah, there’s no more anti-reflective coating on the latest Tab S12 series, even the Ultra. I have no idea why, but probably since people are slapping a screen protector on the phone anyway, hence negating any sort of built-in anti-reflective properties. I know I am one of those people who slaps a screen protector on all screens, so not having the anti-reflective coating is not an issue for me.
Software
Both the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+ comes with One UI 9.0 on top of Android 17, and of course, we’ll have all of the Galaxy ecosystem features too. As a quick refresher, did you know Samsung has the feature to link between your Galaxy device and Windows PC and we can transfer files back and forth quickly?
There’s also the Second Screen feature that converts your tablet into a literal second screen for your Windows PC too. I mean, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a bigger and more beautiful screen than my laptop. That’s not an exaggeration; it’s real.
The Galaxy Tab S12 series will also have an exclusive app – first Android tablet ever to have Adobe Photoshop. Yes, it’s a dedicated app and it comes with a bunch of features that we know and love on the full-fledged Photoshop. Samsung is also giving us 4 months of full access for free with each Galaxy Tab S12 series tablet.
Notability is also another app that will be present in the Galaxy Tab S12 series, and both Notability and Adobe Photoshop will have S Pen integration as well.
Plus, Samsung will also include a 6-month of Google AI Pro trial with 5TB storage. That is another topic on its own as Google AI Pro supercharges a lot of different Google services as well.
