For Apple’s desktop lineup in 2024, not only the iMac got the “M4” treatment but look, the Mac mini is riding the hype train as well with far more options this time around.
The M4-equipped machine now starts with a 10-core CPU + 10-core GPU + 16GB RAM which is quite the uplift partly due to the lineup not getting a “modern refresh” through the M3 series but this is definitely nice to see especially when you factor in the price later on.
On the other hand, you have the M4 Pro chip packing a 14-core CPU in a 10P+4E config as well as up to 20-core GPU setup on top of the maximum 64GB RAM for maximum performance. Oh, it also has Thunderbolt 5 support by the way.
In terms of I/O, you have 2x standard USB-C on the front and 3.5mm audio jack while the backside provides 3x Thunderbolt 4 for the M4 model (And TB5 for the M4 Pro as mentioned). Regardless of which one, both of them can be daisy-chained for multiple external setups as well as the connection of various peripherals as usual.
Aside from the “mandatory” Apple Intelligence support for various AI wonder functions and features, the machine will come with macOS Sequoia out of the box and speaking of boxes, this is the 1st time Apple made it carbon-neutral with 80% greenhouse gas emissions reduction.
Price and Availability
You may now place your order for the new M4 series-powered Mac mini starting from RM2,499 (Is this even real for 2024 standard, let alone an Apple product) for the M4 model while the M4 Pro starts from RM5,599 respectively.
