A few weeks ago – way before the whole restricted movement order, we got a chance to experience the new ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo – codenamed GX550. This is a combination of the ROG Zephyrus lineup with the ASUS ZenBook Duo series’s dual-screen design – which is now called the ROG ScreenPad Plus.
I sort of predicted that this laptop will arrive. It makes sense for a gaming laptop to have that second strip of display.
Since it is ROG after all, they have partnered with a few game developers to make use of that ROG ScreenPad Plus. Currently, ROG has partnered with the developer Techland to have Dying Light 2 works with the ROG ScreenPad Plus. Co-op chat, inventory management, and quests will be moved to the secondary display.
Another interesting addition is Overwolf. The famous streamer-centric companion app will be implemented with famous games like League of Legends, Fortnite, and CS:GO. That ROG ScreenPad Plus will be used to display other real-time stats, build recommendations, and whatnot.
While we’re talking about gaming, let’s talk about performance. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 is powered with top-of-the-line hardware too.
- 15.6-inch matte display with a choice of:
- 3840×2160 with 100% Adobe, Pantone validation, G-Sync
- 1920×1080 with 300Hz
- ROG ScreenPad Plus
- 3840×1100, touchscreen
- Intel Core i9-10980HK (8 cores 16 threads)
- NVIDIA RTX 2080 SUPER
- 16GB DDR4-3200MHz RAM on-board
- Expandable up to 32GB with another spare SODIMM slot
- 2x M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD
- Hardware RAID 0
- 90Wh battery
And hey – from what we know, this new laptop is only using a single 280W power supply. It’s not really that big in size too – which is great for those who want lots of performance on the go. Especially with that new ROG ScreenPad Plus, I think this is my go-to work laptop.
Currently, there is no pricing or availability for the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 just yet – but we’ll update you when we have the information.
