While we already have RTX-powered laptops (the ROG Strix SCAR II GL704 for example) but ASUS wants to step it up a notch. Remember the Zephyrus S that was launched not too long ago? Now, that laptop has gotten beefed up with RTX 2080 Max-Q.
With that, ASUS ROG is also launching two new desktops – the Strix GL10 and Strix GL12.
Let’s go through each of them one by one.
ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701
Now beefed up with a massive 17-inch display, 144Hz and G-Sync support, the Zephyrus S GX701 has one of the most gaming-centric display ever. Also comes with thin bezels to match the sleekness too. It is also PANTONE validated, making it great for content creation too. The GX701 also supports NVIDIA Optimus, which means your battery life should be longer.
Of course, being a part of the Zephyrus series of laptop means that the Zephyrus S GX701 is the thinnest in its class. It has a 15.7-inch wide body and with an 18.7mm thin body.
It is now the one laptop that has the smallest footprint while packs a GeForce RTX 2080 Max-Q GPU. With RTX 20-series of graphics card comes NVIDIA’s exclusive features such as DLSS and real-time ray-tracing, the Zephyrus S GX701 can handle them all.
Like the 15-inch version of the Zephyrus S, it also comes with a trackpad that becomes a numpad with the touch of a button. The GX701 has one extra feature – the integrated volume roller which sits on the top left side of the keyboard. That is truly a handy addition.
Speaking of addition, every purchase of the Zephyrus S GX701 also comes with a webcam, called the ROG GC21. It is a 1080p 60fps external USB webcam which you can mount anywhere you like – on top of the laptop or on the table – it is up to you.
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701 is priced at RM13,999. Every purchase also comes with a mouse and also an ROG backpack, alongside with the GC21 webcam.
ROG Strix GL12CX
This desktop comes with 9th generation of Intel Core i9-9900K and with NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics card as well. The overclockable CPU can be further tuned with the ROG Armoury Crate software too.
The overall proposition of the Strix GL12CX is actually a high-end desktop with the best hardware equipped into a single case. This case in particular is made specifically with the ROG design, as you can see that there are lines with streaks of RGB all over the place.
It also has a swappable 2.5-inch drive bay at the front for hot-swapping storage device as well. This is truly convenient as modern day PC cases have mostly forgotten the existence of hotswapping drives.
The price for the GC12CX starts from RM9,999 and goes up all the way to RM14,999.
ROG Strix GL10CS
Right below the GL12, we have the GL10. It brings the essentials of gaming with the ROG experience and delivers a “gaming powerhouse that won’t break the bank”.
It has a compact 27-liter case with futuristic armor design together with customizable Aura Sync RGB lighting that can be controlled via the Armoury Crate as well.
However, the GL10CS comes with a locked CPU – the Intel Core i7-8700. It is a very powerful CPU and is able to do a lot of heavy workloads such as gaming and video rendering as well.
It also comes with up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 GPU which is still a very powerful GPU for hot modern day titles such as Fortnite, Overwatch, and also Apex Legends – especially for 1080p gaming.
The price for the GC10CS starts from RM2,699 and goes all the way up to RM5,499.
