At CES 2022, Acer has revealed a bunch of stuff but we’ll be talking about the new members in the Swift X family which is the 2022 models of the Swift X 14 and Swift X 16 and among other things.
Not getting too much of a refresh aesthetically, at least the internals are fitted with all the new stuff of 2022 as the laptop hosts a 12th Gen Intel Core CPU (Max 12 Cores) and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti (Intel Arc for Swift X 16) all within a 17.9mm thin aluminum chassis with the display being 2240×1400 IPS panel with 100% sRGB color gamut coverage.
On the other hand, the memory can be configured to go up to 16GB of LPDDR5 and 2TB of PCIe storage with plenty of I/O ports including 2x Thunderbolt 4, 2x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, and an HDMI 2.0 for connecting to the latest gadgets. It is also running an FHD webcam and I’m so happy to see that OEMs finally starting to ditch the old 720p lens and despite without an Ethernet port, the Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E module will provide even higher maximum bandwidth and what do you know, all of these requirements fit the certification for Intel Evo – a verification process that certifies laptops to be business-ready and guaranteed high levels of responsiveness and smooth user experience.
The Swift X family aren’t the only ones getting a refresh as the Aspire C24 and C27 also get the same treatment through an upgrade routine of full Windows 11 support powered by the 12th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce MX 550 GPU with memory options capable of going up to a maximum of 64GB RAM, 1TB SSD, and 2TB HDD. As the premium selection of Acer’s All-In-One desktops, it must meet the needs of remote working as well so Acer fitted it with a 5MP webcam, Wi-Fi 6E module, Bluetooth 5.2, and Thunderbolt 4 to keep the video conferencing, wireless and wired connection hassle down to the minimum.
Acer has also made another effort in the sustainability game by announcing a special Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition laptop where if you are not familiar with, Vero models of existing laptops and peripherals are partially made with recyclable materials and more environmental-friendly packaging to cut down the carbon footprint as much as possible. Combining with the collaboration of one of the most popular names related to Mother Nature, I would agree that this is a good PR move for Acer.
Pricing
Everything aside from the Aspire Vero National Geographic Edition is not fully announced just yet but all we know is the collab laptop is tagged at EUR899 (~RM4,268.61).
