During the Dell Technologies World 2020 Digital Experience event, Dell Technologies shares how the technology is accelerating transformation, creating new opportunities, and building business resiliency that stands the test of time. Following the theme, they have announced 2 big forward steps to always stay ahead of the game.
Project APEX – aaS simplification for everyone
The project is launched to unify the company’s strategy, offerings, and go-to-market efforts and applying it to the as-a-Service so that clients and partners are getting consistent and top-tier experience whenever they run workloads at anywhere they choose such as on-premises, edge locations, and public clouds.
They also forecasted that by the end of next year, the consumption of as-a-Service offerings will drive a 3 times increase in demand for on-premises infrastructure delivered via flexible solutions and consumptions. Therefore, the project is initiated partly due to supply vs demand reasons as usual.
The aim of the new Dell Technologies Cloud Console will provide the foundation for Project APEX and from the perspective of its customers, they can now manage their cloud and as-a-Service journey within a single and seamless management service such as deploy workloads, manage their multi-cloud resources, monitor their costs in real-time and add capabilities that can be performed instantaneously without any hassle.
Tackling on green computing and sustainability issues, the project will help companies to retire old infrastructures in a secure and environmentally friendly manner by:
- Reselling 100% of the returned leased assets.
- Refurbishing and reselling 89% of working assets in the North America and EMEA regions.
- Reselling 10% of non-working assets to Environmental Disposal Partners who repair, reuse, resell, and recycle each asset.
- Helping customers resell or recycle their excess hardware and prepare to return leased equipment in a secure and environmentally conscious manner through Dell Asset Resale & Recycling Services.
More details about the project can be found here.
Dell Storage-as-a-Service
In relation to the new Cloud Console, the company is also launching its own Storage-as-a-Service (STaaS) which is an on-premises, as-a-Service portfolio of scalable and elastic storage resources that will offer block and file data services and a broad range of enterprise-class features that are fully designed to handle OPEX transactions and which, you guessed it, fully manageable through the new Cloud Console service.
Here are some of the key details announced in regards to the overall as-a-Service offerings:
- Start with a hybrid cloud model from as low as $47 USD per instance per month through subscription pricing
- Cloud Platform is extending to the UK, France, and Germany with the Asia Pacific and Japan joining during the first half of 2021
- Cloud PowerProtect for Multi-cloud protects data and applications across public clouds that also save cost through deduplication technology with zero egress fees when retrieving data from Microsoft Azure
- Get rebate up to 20% on Flex On-Demand solutions as a partner with pre-configured pricing and pay-per-use billing method makes it simple for customers to select and deploy Dell Technologies solutions
