The year 2020 has been a difficult trial for every single business in the world and it affected retail businesses the most. Dell has decided to move away from retail stores and go back to being a purely online store.

Dell has always been a pioneer and they have their own channel to customize your purchases via Dell’s very own online store. Dell has been doing it since a decade ago, and now they’re returning back to its roots – which I actually think it’s a good call.

Think about it – 2020 is such a rough year and many people are staying at home instead of going out shopping. Online reviewers (including us, remember to subscribe) are linking to online stores and advising everyone not to go out shopping. Having a retail store for physical presence just isn’t effective in this current climate.

So, in Dell’s official statement, it has stated these two clauses:

  1. Dell Technologies has announced plans to transition out of the retail market in Singapore and Malaysia. Customers will still have access to the full complement of our products and services through Dell direct.
  2. Dell will honor contractual commitments with our partners and customers, and our team is on hand to work with our partners to coordinate a seamless transition. We anticipate the transition to be completed by the end of January 2021.

A pretty drastic move for sure. Nonetheless, we still recommend you to shop for Dell’s machines over at https://www.dell.com/en-my. And Dell’s new XPS lineup of laptops are amazing too – especially since it’s been updated to the latest 11th Gen Intel chip. The XPS 13 that we reviewed here is with the 10th Gen Intel chip, though.
