Edifier has announced a new smaller form factor of the highly sorted after Hecate GM4 gaming earbuds as the Hecate GM4 Mini 1 alongside 2 new external sound cards the GS01 and GS02 for high-quality gaming audio.
Hecate GM4 Mini 1
Coming in as the miniature version, it is 30% smaller than the original while retaining the signature Dual-Mode function that offers either low-latency Gaming Mode supported by the PixArt PAU150X chipset or Hi-Fi sound quality Music mode thanks to the 5.8mm micro-motion coil driver.
We have our doubts with the audio latency since we’ve tried a lot of different protocols and benchmarked them with a slow-motion camera before, and the audio delay is usually not suitable for games like PUBG Mobile.
The earbud is able to operate up to 4 hours per full charge with the case holding 22 hours worth of juice which can easily fulfill an entire day of on-the-go audio companion. It is priced exactly the same as the original at RM199 and the IPX5 waterproofing rating as well.
GS01 & GS02 External Sound Card
The Edifier GS01 and GS02 do what a sound card does: Provide an averagely better audio quality than the in-built audio chipset within motherboards not only for a great music experience but also enhances the gaming aspect across multiple platforms. At least it is what the 2 sound cards are trying to do.
Exclusively to the GS02, it can apply 1 of the 4 filters available which is Man, Woman, Cartoon, and Monster voice for a quick laugh among your teammates. The Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound system is also implemented to complement a better gaming experience. The external control unit has breathing RGB LEDs and it supports macOS and Unix systems as well. To allow users to hear the surrounding at all times, the Monitor mode is there to pick ambient sound to keep the user alerted.
On the other hand, the GS01 is more for a budget-centric target focused on pure sound card features as the voice filter, Virtual 7.1, and Monitor mode are not there and it is not compatible with macOS and Unix. However, both models support conventional Windows machines such as desktops, laptops, and also Playstation 4 while the 3.5mm port supports AUX, microphones, all sorts of headsets, earphones, and sound systems. The volume knob and microphone mute trigger are also present in both models for quick audio adjustments.
Pricing
The Edifier GS01 and GS02 are now available on their official sales channel of Lazada and Shopee being priced at RM39 and RM49.
