The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag is a neat little device that we have found pretty practical and fun to use which we originally thought was a “Nice to see, Nice to have” kind of thing. Today, Samsung Malaysia has brought in the Galaxy SmartTag+, an enhanced edition, and obviously a better version.
Now packed with both Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Ultra Wide Band (UWB), you now can apply AR technology through your Galaxy smartphone (UWB-supported) to find your missing item by showing you where it is and how to get to it – something like a navigational guide in video games. You can also make it ring a loud noise once you have moved in close enough, in case it slipped into somewhere that is completely covered up.
If AR is not your thing, you can also use the SmartThings app to find your missing tagged belongings. Due to smart synchronization, any connected devices or appliances within your ring of SmartThings connection will pick up the BLE signal and sends you a notification about the exact location. Signals in between the devices are encrypted so don’t need to afraid of nearby people spying on your movements.
Being an upgraded version, of course, it still does what it does like turning off a lamp in your room while you’re outside of your house with a simple tap and several functions can be mapped for a more comprehensive experience.
