Samsung’s big Unpacked announcement unveiled not only the Galaxy Note20 series of smartphones but more. We have the new Galaxy Buds Live, the Galaxy Watch 3, and also the Galaxy Tab S7 & Tab S7+. Let’s go through them one by one.
Galaxy Buds Live
Let’s start off with this weird little thing. It was first leaked and referred to as the “Galaxy Beans” but it turned out to be officially called the Galaxy Buds Live. It’s a refreshing approach to an existing category of products that is just flooded with AirPods copycats.
So, this uniquely-shaped pair of earbuds are available in a total of three different colors:
- Bronze
- White
- Black
What particularly stood out to me was the finish. The bronze color has a super reflective shiny look whereby the white color has a pretty basic glossy finish.
The Galaxy Buds Live has a pretty tiny charging case, it supports wireless charging and can provide up to 29 hours while the buds themselves can provide 8 hours of listening time on a single charge.
What’s impressive here is that despite the buds being so tiny, Samsung managed to create air vents just like big sized speakers, so that you get richer, deeper bass. There’s also ANC but I don’t know how effective it is since it’s not an in-ear earbud.
One not-so-new feature is the ability to use two pairs of Galaxy Buds Live on a single device. The reason why I’m saying it’s not-so-new is that the Galaxy S10 series had this feature where we can connect and play from two different Bluetooth speakers at the same time.
Galaxy Watch 3
There are a few big upgrades here which I think justifies the reason to upgrade. It now has SpO2 monitoring, fall detection so that it can alert your contacts instantly when you fall down. That’s something very useful for the elderly.
Then, there are more than 120 fitness programs built into the watch so that you can just follow the Galaxy Watch 3 and do your exercises. This is especially useful since we’re mostly homebound.
The Galaxy Watch 3 can also now detect how you run so that it can tell you if you’re more left-biased or right-biased.
And like we mentioned in our other post about the Galaxy Note20 series, you can now control your camera, PowerPoint presentation, and music directly from the Galaxy Watch 3. We tried it out and it essentially made the Galaxy Watch 3 become a trackpad.
The bezel can still be rotated and the watch can still be used for Samsung Pay, which is pretty standard stuff at this point when it comes to Samsung products.
The Galaxy Watch 3 is also available for pre-order too. Click here to learn more.
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 & Tab S7+
The new Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ have the same S Pen upgrades as the Galaxy Note20 series – lower latency, Air Actions, all of that good stuff. The new Samsung Notes app update also works on the Tab S7 and Tab S7+ obviously, which is going to make this tablet a fantastic tablet for productivity.
There’s also the new multi-app view which is similar to the Galaxy Fold. The Galaxy Fold, when unfolded, has the ability to display 3 apps at once – and this new Galaxy Tab S7 and Tab S7+ has that feature too.
And for artists out there, Samsung has an exclusive deal to get the Clip Studio Paint app on Android! You get 6 months for free with every purchase of the Galaxy Tab S7 or Tab S7+.
The keyboard + trackpad case seems to have been redesigned too, but I have no experience with the Tab S6 to make any judgment.
