Ever wanted to send an emoji with a mixture of two emojis? Maybe… a thinking emoji monkey? Or flying money face? Smirking heart a la Ricardo from Adventure Time? IT seems like Google is testing out a built-in emoji mashup feature in the latest beta version of the Gboard keyboard.
Reported by Android Police, this feature is truly just wholesome. For Google to implement this feature is to open a flood gate of many different possibilities of emoji mashups to be discovered and shared with the world. I mean, some of these shown in the screenshots are already funny enough.
UPDATE: We have that feature on our phone!
Obviously, the first we did was spam our friends with emojis. And then, we made this video to show you how the feature works.

Source: Android PoliceThe developers of this feature also paid a lot of attention to the details – as seen in this screenshot whereby combining the swearing emoji with the heart emoji results in swearing in love instead. That’s aggressively lovely.

The feature seems to be simple to use. Just select an emoji and it’ll display the multiple different variants of the emoji. We’re not sure how many of these emojis are customized like the “swearing in love” mashup, but it surely is interesting to see that Google is trying to do something different here.

This feature is actually reminiscent of those Twitter bot accounts where they keep tweeting mashup of emojis. Perhaps this is where the developers of Gboard got the idea from – and I think it is hilarious as these mashups can sometimes be really unexpected. Like this one.
Or maybe a disgusted ogre.
I mean, the possibilities are virtually enless here. If Gboard has a solid engine to mash the emojis together, then we’ll be seeing many new derivations of emojis.
By the way, Android Police uploaded the beta version of Gboard that has this feature. Click the link below to head on over to Android Police to download the APK and try it yourself. Send us back the emojis that you mashed up. 😏
