Hollyland Malaysia has officially announced the launch of the LARK MAX 2 and LARK A1 microphones for the local market.
Let’s take a look at the LARK MAX 2 first. As the model catering to content creators within the semi-pro and pro tiers, as well as those who are about “serious businesses”, it comes with loads of impressive tech such as 32-bit float recording combined with various tech such as FocalClear and Dual-ADC Adaptive Gain Architecture that results in recordings without little to no distortion and noise.
The use of 32-bit float also streamlines post production thanks to its ability to take in high amount of details, thus reducing the need for further tuning and editing under the ideal conditions. Timecode support basically works in the same way for easy video audio sync.
It also comes with Hot Shoe compatibility towards Sony cameras for easy plug-and-play wireless monitoring and configuration of the associated setup, and up to 4 transmitters can be connected to 1 receiver at once, which will be perfect for podcasts, forums, and more.
There’s also the super handy and neat OWS Monitor Earphones that tout extremely low latency similar to cellular phone calls, thanks to the use of 2.4GHz frequency hopping tech, allowing users to quickly connect to the system and start monitoring the overall recordings.
The design is applied to solve some of the more troublesome issues, such as wired monitoring often leads to unwanted wire tripping, as well as the limitation of being bound by the length of the wire. Simply speaking, Hollyland says no to that via this accessory.
It supports Bluetooth as well, but not for production use, and instead, a quick switch to your smartphone to catch a quick call or listen to music during break times – a “Buy 1, Use 2” product if you will.
All in all, the LARK MAX 2 builds upon the basis of the original LARK MAX combined with loads of user feedback and input, together with technology advancement that results in a powerful yet user-friendly microphone that matches the requirements of even the most professional use cases.
On the other hand, the LARK A1 is designed for an “instant out of the box easy experience” for the more casual use case, such as vloggers and mobile streamers looking for some affordable yet value-packed option.
Although not as powerful as the LARK MAX 2, it is still pretty compelling as it can handle 48 kHz/24-bit audio and up to 120dB SPL without any issue alongside 3-level intelligent noise cancellation.
Further customization includes 6-level gain and EQ presets in addition to 200m of transmission range, and most importantly, the 54-hour battery life (case included) for multi-day recording sessions.
