Malaysia is one of the earliest markets to welcome the HONOR 9A! It’s an entry-level smartphone and with the price of RM549 – that didn’t stop HONOR from sweetening up the deal even further.
Despite being an entry-level smartphone, it still packs a rather good set of hardware in its specs sheet:

- Waterdrop notch
- MediaTek Helio P22 chipset
- 3GB RAM
- 64GB internal storage
- Expandable via microSD
- Triple rear-facing cameras
- Main: 13MP f/1.8 with PDAF
- Ultra-wide angle: 5MP f/2.2
- Depth sensor
- 5,000mAh battery
- Android 10 with Magic UI 3.1
- Uses Huawei Mobile Services
I should note that the HONOR 9A is pretty much using the same chassis as the HONOR 8X, and it still uses micro USB for charging too. At least the notch has changed to a waterdrop-shaped one.
One major point to take note of the HONOR 9A is Huawei Mobile Services. This means that it does not have Google apps at all, and the only way you can get APKs is through 3rd party app stores or other means. For power users like you and me, it might not seem like an issue – but it’s definitely a problem for many.

The HONOR 9A is available in two colors – Midnight Black and the striking Phantom Blue. It will be available for purchase on these platforms starting 26th June at 12pm:
The HONOR 9A will also be available in selected partner stores via pre-order from 26th June to 5th July 2020. Then, it’ll be HONOR 9A will be available to purchase in-stores starting 6th July at any HONOR Experience Stores (HES) and partner stores nationwide.
Online and pre-order purchases will receive free gifts worth up to RM218 that consists of an HONOR backpack, water bottle, and 15GB on Huawei Cloud. Purchases made in-store will receive an HONOR water bottle and free 15GB on Huawei Cloud.
