We have reviewed numerous phones from both Huawei and HONOR, and they’re both using the EMUI skin on top of Android. We have reviewed many phones from both the companies and we are also very vocal about how EMUI 9 looks and feels. With that said, the latest EMUI 10 has been unveiled and we also got a first look at it.
Apologies for this horrendous video with inaudible noises and shaky video – this video file was sent to our email and we couldn’t find where the video was originally uploaded to, so we uploaded to our own YouTube channel instead.
In general, the new EMUI 10 looks like just a facelift from EMUI 9. It just looks aesthetically more modern overall and seems to have been inspired by Samsung’s One UI to some extent – particularly the quick settings menu from the notification bar and also the larger title on each system app.
Other than that, it seems like the user experience of the EMUI 10 is pretty similar to EMUI 9 as the button placements are similar.
It also seems like the user experience of the camera app is identical to EMUI 9 but with a slider to change between camera modes and with larger fonts overall.
We have to wait until EMUI 10 has arrived at Huawei and HONOR phones and until we got a chance to test it out. While it’s difficult to judge via that horrendous video alone, it seems like a facelift more than an overhaul on the user interface to provide a better experience.
Also, there’s finally a system-wide dark mode in EMUI 10. Wasn’t this supposed to be a feature in Android 9.0 Pie by default?
There’s really nothing wrong with the current user experience of the EMUI skin – just not that appealing when compared to others in the market and it can be messy sometimes.
