Did someone say a laptop with a mechanical keyboard? That’s something uncommon even after years since its first debut. At least more laptops are hopping onto the bandwagon – and the ILLEGEAR RAVEN is one of those laptops.
The ILLEGEAR RAVEN is a mid-range laptop with an emphasis on its looks. Let’s face it – it has RGB mechanical keyboard, all encased in a slim design.
Anyway, the ILLEGEAR RAVEN is the successor of the Q5 EVO model. Since ILLEGEAR is marketing the RAVEN as a mid-range gaming laptop, its specs are surgically chosen as well.

Now, let’s take another look at the mechanical switch. I can’t actually find any information regarding its performance – actuation force, travel distance, clickiness, or tactility. The keyboard is again, lit up by RGB lighting. I mean, come on – it’s 2017. RGB must be shoved down everyone’s throats irregardless if we actually use it or not.
The whole ILLEGEAR RAVEN seems pretty tiny too. It’s 4mm thinner and 300g lighter than its predecessor, the Q5 EVO, and even has smaller physical footprint while including a battery that’s 23% larger in capacity.
Other than that, it has a 3W subwoofer and dual 2W speakers which can be fine-tuned with the pre-installed SoundBlaster Cinema 3 software.

Not a bad deal, if you ask me. Get the variant with an SATA SSD (it’s fine, trust me) and it’ll be more than enough. To be honest, that GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB VRAM is a GPU that’s very suitable for games like Overwatch.
