Lamborghini, as many of you have heard about it, the globally renowned carmaker, is unveiling the brand new Lamborghini Urus. This is the first ever appearance of the Urus here in Malaysia and dubbed as the world’s first Super SUV. It is set to be a game-changer for the luxury segment with unparalleled performance, design, driving dynamics and daily usability.

The Urus is built with two things in mind – the Lamborghini DNA of the super-sleek design with magnificent performance, and also the sole purpose of an SUV. With these two aspects combined, the Urus is the definition of a Super SUV.

The Performance

With a front-mounted 4.0-liter petrol V8 twin-turbo aluminium engine. Packed with a 650hp at 6,000 rpm, the Urus can achieve 0-100km/h in just 3.6 seconds, 0-200km/h in just 12.8 seconds. Even at high speeds, the Urus can decelerate from 100-0km/h in 33.7m.

The Tech

Now, let us just leave the car’s performance to your favourite car portal news site, let’s talk about what is the tech that has been incorporated into this awesome SUV.

Lamborghini four-wheel Drive & Torque Vectoring

The Lamborghini Urus’ four-wheel drive system delivers a highly responsive driving dynamics on every road and surface, in all weather. Torque is split 40/60 to the independent front/rear axle as standard, with a dynamic maximum torque of 70% to the front or 87% to the rear.

The Tamburo – Lamborghini driving dynamics control

Speaking of the torque vectoring, the Tamburo driving mode selector on the centre console controls all dynamic vehicle systems and allows the car to perform in different driving conditions:

  • STRADA (Comfort)
  • SPORT (Stability & Precision)
  • CORSA (Performance)
  • NEVE (Snow)
  • TERRA (off-road)
  • SABBIA (Sand)

The electromechanical active roll stabilisation system is being used for the first time in a Lamborghini. It ensures maximum reduction of the roll angle on bumpy roads.

There is even a specially-tuned damping system that continues to adjust to different driving conditions: harder when cornering and softer in a straight line.

Rear-wheel steering

Now some of you might not hear of rear-wheel steering before, but believe it or not, it has been around for ages and only available in some four-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive cars. The rear steering angle varies up to +/- 3.0 degrees, according to the vehicle speed and driving mode. This helps the car’s manoeuvrability no matter at low speed or high speed.

Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

The ADAS provide a comprehensive level of safety, security and driving assistance on level 2 (SAE scale). High Beam Assistant fades headlights in and out of high beam mode as required; front and rear parking sensors and cruise control are also included as standard, as is an innovative PreCognition system preventing or mitigating a collision. Optional ADAS add-on includes traffic management systems, top-view camera and a trailer coupling mode.
