For us customers at Lazada, online shopping has been a very different experience. We get to enjoy hassle-free shopping since we can just browse for items online and make our purchase – but we have to wait for the delivery and we cannot confirm the product is genuine before making the purchase. That is not an issue since we can make a refund if the item is not to our liking, but very time-consuming. Now, Lazada wants to mitigate that as well.
Introducing the new non-compliance points to Lazada Seller Policies. It functions like a merit points system and there are a total of 5 categories of violations. Each of these violations adds points to your non-complaince. Once your store hits 48 points, the store will be terminated. However, the merit points reset itself every 365 days.
The slide above can be obtained from here and it summarizes the categories of non-compliance. Lazada also has a dedicated website to further elaborate all of the violations here.
The accumulation of points does have tiered punishments and has a direct impact on the seller’s store. Upon the accumulation of 48 points, we are not sure if the store will reappear after 365 days after the the merit points have been reset.
Then, let’s then talk about the case about scammers on Lazada.
Over the past year, we have seen how scammers have morphed and are now targeting victims through Lazada. We have already talked about Lazada scammers in the past here and for the second time here. Lazada is finally taking some steps to mitigate this awful practice by introducing non-compliance points to their Lazada Seller Policies.
However, as we have mentioned before, these sellers will ask you as a customer to WhatsApp the phone number that the seller has provided on the product page itself. The number of such scammers have reduced drastically thanks to their recent crackdown, but there are still scammers on Lazada – like this one who claims to be doing business in the black market. Ironically, this seller is only targeting Samsung smartphones.

There is no report button on Lazada which makes it ever so difficult for users to give feedback about the store to Lazada. That is a good move to eliminate mass spam from users altogether, but also means that Lazada themselves have to do all the work.
Point number 3 on the list of non-compliance might be able to vaguely tie in to these scammer activities. Still, Lazada could have instilled more confidence in us consumers by stating that they are aware of this and are cracking down on it.
And Lazada, if you are indeed reading this, do contact us. We have quite a lot of things to talk about.
