Logitech has just announced its acquisition of Blue Microphones, the company that produces popular microphones for streamers and YouTube, most notably the Blue Yeti and Blue Snowball. The Blue Microphone is already a household name for streamers and gamers alike, and so is Logitech.
Logitech’s acquisition is pretty logical. Their webcams are already the go-to product for streamers, but Logitech’s microphone department isn’t the best. Thus, acquiring the most well-known microphone for that demographic – Blue Microphones.
Logitech acquired Blue Microphones for USD $117 million in cash. With that said, Blue Microphones isn’t going anywhere. According to TechCrunch, the Blue brand will still be around and the team working for Blue now will be joining Logitech.
It’s only logical for Logitech to retain the Blue branding. Combined with Logitech’s dominating presence in the webcam department, I presume that they can have a “streamer’s starter kit” with a Blue mic and a Logitech webcam.
