Seriously – were you there at the concert? If not, then you’ve missed out a lot. This is the Miku Expo 2017 that happened in Axiata Arena, Malaysia – and also the first ever live hologram concert in Malaysia!
We covered the Miku Expo 2017 announcement back in September, but now it finally happened! 90% of the tickets were SOLD OUT too!
There are a few key highlights of the entire event that happened on 16th December 2017, the memorable Saturday night. Firstly, that Miku concert was awarded the “First Live hologram Concert” in Malaysia by The Malaysia Book of Records. To be honest, I’m honored to be a part of that.
Mr. Hiroyuki Itoh, CEO, Crypton Future Media, INC.
Henry Tan, Chief Content & Consumer Officer, Astro Group
Mr. Christopher Wong, COO, The Malaysia Book of Records
There were also pre-concert activities, including official merchandise booths, a session with the popular guitarist and VOCALOID producer, DJ Kurage-P, Hatsune Miku Kinect and VR games, photo opportunity with a life-size Hatsune Miku figure, a special Miku Figurine Corner for avid collectors, a drawing wall for those with an artistic heart, and another info wall with trivia about Miku herself.
Before Miku herself performed, there were opening acts from both Zizan Razak performing Chentaku and upcoming YouTube star, Chaleeda Gilbert.
There were a total of 27 songs performed, including a cover of Chentaku by Zizan Razak. I’m actually surprised how well it turned out, as Miku’s pronunciation of Malay words is actually very accurate for that song. As for the full list of songs performed, you can check it out at the table down below.
Both Chentaku and 8HIT were performed for the first time at a concert.

And hey – the entire Miku Expo 2017 concert was streamed live on the Tamago app, so you can enjoy the entire concert in the comfort of your home – but alone. 😉
I can tell you, the Miku Expo 2017 concert was crazy – the energy that was in the audience is just intense! When Miku’s classic hits like Senbonsakura, Weekender Girl, The World Is Mine, Tell Your World, and even Luka Luka Night Fever started playing, fans (including me) were cheering our lungs out!
It’s definitely a night to remember – and The Malaysia Book of Records has already immortalized it with the “First Live Hologram Concert” award.
Hope to see you again next year, Hatsune Miku!
For those who didn’t attend Miku Expo 2017 – well, you can still enjoy some of the tracks at home now. We live in the digital age where everything is available on the internet anyway.
