Ever since Moto has been acquired by Lenovo, they’ve been pretty quiet – but now they’re bringing the brand new Moto G5S Plus – a budget-oriented smartphone that has the looks and technology. Moto also announced the availability of the X4, a premium smartphone with gorgeous aesthetics.

Let’s start with the Moto G5S Plus first.

Moto G5S Plus

The Moto G5S Plus is a 5.5-inch smartphone with a full 1080p resolution with IPS LCD display and priced at only RM999. It’s smartphone that is focused to bring you long hours of usage thanks to its hardware. With a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz, 4GB RAM and 32GB of storage and all juiced up by a 3,000mAh battery, the Moto G5S Plus is actually quite similar to the ASUS ZenFone 3.

Of course, the main difference here is that the Moto G5 has dual-cameras. Now, you might be wondering – is it a hybrid or stereoscopic dual-camera system? Through the specs sheet, it seems like the Moto G5S Plus is using a stereoscopic dual-camera system since both of the rear-cameras has a 13MP with f/2.0 aperture lenses. And Moto is boasting a “depth editing software” with its dual-cameras at the rear. You can learn more about dual-camera systems here. As for selfies, there’s an 8MP wide-angle lens with f/2.0 aperture.

Moto X4

The new Moto X4 is a smartphone that has quite an eye-catching design. When I first saw it, my eyes were captivated by the dual-cameras at the rear. That ring. That ring reminds me of a watch face.

In terms of specs, the Moto X4 has a 5.2-inch 1080p display with LTPS IPS display and comes powered by a Snapdragon 630 chipset with 2.2GHz octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB of storage, and a powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

As for the dual-cameras at the rear, the Moto X4 has a 12MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and another 8MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. This is what I call the hybrid dual-camera system, which you can learn more here.

Then, there’s another 16MP sensor with f/2.0 lens for selfies. I still don’t understand why autofocusing selfie cameras are still rare even until today.

The Moto X4 is available in both Super black and Sterling Blue colors, and it’s priced at RM1,899. You can get one over at Lazada now!
