Seems like OnePlus is coming to Malaysia really early this iteration! The OnePlus 5 has already started its pre-order window from now until 6th July. You’ll receive the phone in an “estimated within 5 working days after 8th July”, as told by Brightstar. Brightstar is the official distributor for OnePlus, by the way.
This time around, the OnePlus 5 will only be distributed via Brightstar alone, unlike the OnePlus 3/3T where DirectD also offers the cheaper CN variant. Anyway, the OnePlus 5 comes in two colors – the Midnight Black version with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage at a price of RM2,688, and also in Slate Grey color with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage at RM2,388.
With that said, the specs between the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 3T isn’t that far apart other than a bump in chipset & processor, display panel type, and camera. Another optional upgrade is the RAM and storage, where the choice is entirely up to you.
From my point of view, if you already have the OnePlus 3T, then it’s not such a major upgrade – unless you really need that upgraded camera.

The OnePlus 5 is still a phone with great value but it also kinda swayed off from its original idea. The flagship killer that never settles went to disrupt the market with the OnePlus One by offering great hardware at a really low price. I personally owned one, and never cared about its aesthetics. That phone is just superb! Years passed and it seems like they’re now just like one of the flagship smartphone that costs ~RM2.5k and above price mark. Just seem a little generic to stand out from the crowd, to be honest.
Anyway, the all new OnePlus 5 is available for pre-orders on Lazada. Again, the Midnight Black version has 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage with the price of RM2,688.
You can pre-order it right here.
The Slate Grey version has 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, has a price of RM2,388.
