realme Malaysia has announced the availability of 2 new smartphones which are the realme 7i and realme C17. Both of them are fitted with a 90Hz display which seems to be gaining traction and getting widely adopted in the smartphone market now, but that is only suitable when the hardware is powerful enough to prevent the frame rates from dipping.
Anyway, let’s take a look at both of them through the specs.
realme 7i
- 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen
- 90Hz refresh rate
- Top-left punch hole notch
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 chipset
- 8GB RAM
- 128GB storage
- Quadruple rear-facing cameras
- Main: 64MP f/1.8 PDAF
- Ultra-wide: 8MP f/2.3
- Macro: 2MP f/2.4
- Depth sensor
- 16MP f/2.1 selfie camera
- 5,000mAh battery
- 18W Fast Charge
- Aurora Green, Polar Blue colors
By looking at the specs only, the realme 7i seems like a pretty standard mid-range smartphone but with a higher price tag as it lacks the faster-charging capability and also uses a Snapdragon 600 series chipset instead of a 700 chip.
realme C17
- 6.5-inch IPS LCD display
- 90Hz refresh rate
- Top-left punch hole notch
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 chipset
- 6GB RAM
- 128GB storage
- Quadruple rear-facing cameras
- Main: 13MP f/2.2 PDAF
- Ultra-wide: 8MP f/2.2
- Macro: 2MP f/2.4
- Depth sensor
- 8MP f/2.0 selfie camera
- 5,000mAh battery
- 18W Fast Charge
- Navy Blue, Lake Green colors
Let’s take a step back and look at the specs once again. At this point in time, Snapdragon 400 series chipsets are only used in entry-level smartphones, and all entry-level smartphones aren’t priced this high.
Now, I am worried about that 90Hz screen and how the Snapdragon 460 can keep up. We already showed you that no games can run at 90Hz on more powerful realme phones, but with this weird specs matchup, can that Snapdragon 460 chipset maintain a smooth 90fps while scrolling through social media?
Pricing and Availability
The realme 7i is priced at RM999 and available for purchase right now on their official store at Lazada with an extra power bank thrown in as a bonus while offline sales at realme stores and authorized dealers will start on October 17 with the bonus freebie being the realme Buds Classic.
The realme C17 will be available soon which we will be updating this post when it happens.
